Balinese Farmers are Ignoring Moung Agung Warnings
Bali is on high alert as Mount Agung inches closer to erupting. Disaster officials set the warning level to the highest level last Friday, expanding the danger zone and prompting the evacuation of nearly 140,000 people. But as VICE's reporters found out many local farmers are risking their lives to return home "There are still so many people here who don't want to evacuate. And my 30 cows at home, who's going to feed them?" said one farmer. —VICE.

KPK Not Finished With Setya Novanto
House speaker Setya Novanto found a way out of charges that he played a central role in a Rp 2.3 trillion ($170 million USD) corruption case involving the government's electronic ID, or e-KTP, project. Setya's lawyers were able to successfully file a pre-trial motion that reversed his status as a suspect in the case, arguing that some of the evidence used to bring charges against the Golkar politician were based on claims that are yet to be proven in court.

The Jakarta Post, in an editorial, called the lower court's decision a "travesty of justice." The rest of the nation had a different take on the meme-worthy exploits of Setya though—jokingly tweeting about "the power of Setya Novanto." But the KPK remained undeterred, saying that it would work to name him a suspect in the case again. —The Jakarta Post

GO-JEK Considers Overseas Expansion
Co-founder and CEO Nadiem Makarim can't say where the on-demand transportation service is heading yet, but he's looking at three to four countries in Southeast Asia—"places with a large population and where cash rules." Right now, GO-JEK's biggest rival is Grab, with services in seven countries. Grab's CEO, Anthony Tan, is a former classmate of Nadiem's from Harvard Univesity. "We've always been on the defensive," said Makarim. "It's time to bring competition to their doorsteps." —Bloomberg.
