Colin Furze is, according to his quite possibly self-written Wikipedia page, a plumber, stuntman and filmmaker from Stamford, England, who also has an obsession with posting YouTube videos of himself hauling ass on things that weren’t meant to go fast, like mobility scooters. He also built a flame-throwing scooter that got him arrested. Now he’s apparently got another record to add to his list: the world’s fastest baby stroller.A week ago it came out that Furze had built a stroller that could top 50 miles an hour, which would be more than enough to conquer the then-Guinness record of 30 mph. Aside from being shocked that there’s actually a stroller-racing scene, I have to give props to Furze, who released the above video today documenting his world record 53.46 mph pass at a British drag strip.Of course, the stroller (or pram, as those snooty goofy British folks like to call it), isn’t exactly off-the-shelf. It’s powered by a 125cc engine pumping a whopping 10 horsepower through a four-speed gearbox. Rather than walk behind it, it looks like Furze built it on top of one of those idiotic ski-scooter things that I thought only sad dads rode at the beach. But I can’t fault Furze; you have to go with what works when you build a world record-winning mode of transportation in four weeks for around $725. Oh, and yeah, it can still carry a baby.Follow Derek Mead on Twitter: @derektmead.
