PurForm: White Box

White Box is an audiovisual performance that “metaphorically transposes, into sound and images, concepts from systems theory related to black, white and grey boxes.” To create this paranormal experience (that sort of reminds us of the creepy buzzing and zapping sounds that black box in our living room makes), PurForm, visual artist Yan Breuleux and composer Alain Thibault, combined three giant HD video screens with quadraphonic audio. This team managed to create beautiful graphics that seem alive, as A/V compositions—consisting of lines and shapes—combine with transcendent-sounding audio to appear in real time.

Riccardo Sabatini: Hexahedra

Riccardo Sabatini embarked on an experimental typographic project to create a puzzle-like typeface where each piece fit perfectly. The practical and highly intricate Hexahedra is completely composed of cubes, and when applied as text, pays close resemblance to a game of Tetris. As Sabatini puts it, “A hexahedron (plural: hexahedra) is any polyhedron with six faces and three squares around each vertex. Basically, a cube. And this is a cube typeface.” Obviously, we like it in GIF form.

Dumb Eyes: Gatto Fritto

Dumb Eyes has made all your kaleidoscope dreams come true in their newest creation for Gatto Fritto‘s tune “Lucifer Morning Star.” The music video is a 6-minute long hallucinogenic trip consisting of constantly changing patterns and images that spin into a whirlpool of psychedelia. If this is your sort of thing, make sure to check out Sabrina Ratté’s current exhibition at Bubblebyte.org.
