If you like art or books and live near New York City, you're probably already planning to dedicate your weekend to the triple threat of art book fairs storming the area: the New York Art Book Fair, the Independent Art Book Fair, and Brooklyn Book Festival. If you like a little spectacle with your visual literature, make sure you hit MoMA PS1 for the New York Art Book Fair which includes—among 370+ exhibitors from 28 countries—artists Maia Ruth Lee and Peter Sutherland's incredible Zine Tornado.
If you followed The Offensive, our competition in collaboration with the Zean.it app and Juicy J, you know how much we love the freedom zine-making can provide. In a short video by artist Claire Christerson, we see what true freedom looks like: being immersed in a swirling maelstrom of zines. It's like the cash cube game show from Matilda—which incidentally is kind of a real thing. All of the book fairs will be awesome, and you should go to them all, but make extra special sure you see Sutherland's interactive sculpture in action.
