Neon Steve Has “Found A Place” In the World of R&B Bootlegs

One of the who's-who of the West Coast scene is comfortable wearing the pants of many genres.

A subdivision that lies within the beauty of dance music, is its power to revive the old as new. Done in a continuum of ways, electronic music has injected adrenaline into sounds and songs formerly loved, long forgotten and perhaps little known. For much of the young audience, myself included, this approach has drawn out appreciation for genres that you once thought belonged only on an AM radio segue. The resuscitation of some of these genres can be attested to producers like Neon Steve.

As a producer with a longstanding knack for twisting genres into high energy pieces, Neon Steve has birthed a new remix titled, "Found A Place." Unearthing a 2002 track called "Boogie 2nite" by little known R&B artist Tweet, he has whisked together a remix that appropriately grooves from bar to bar—similarly to the original. It's dusted with a pinch of a drum and bass and wrapped up with a groove house-y bow. The track is a surefire example of Neon Steve's widely accredited remix capabilities.

"I've been working on this project called The Free'on Steve Series with the goal of giving away 14 tunes throughout 2014. I started it as an excuse to explore a bunch of new styles and tempos I might not have tried otherwise, and it has been really fun so far," he says. "This remix is a flip of Tweets' "Boogie 2nite." I love the original but I wanted to really mess with it and switch up the vibe."

Plunge into the exclusive premiere of his new remix above and hit up Neon Steve on his SoundCloud and Facebook more music. Neon Steve has a handful of upcoming tour dates in British Columbia, check out his website for the details.
