NEW YORK - TRUE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL

Peter Beste has spent the better part of this decade immersing himself in the Black Metal scene in Bergen and photographing the living shit out of its members. (he's the one who helped us shoot and basically made happen our trip to Gaahl's cabin in middle-of-nowhere, Norway). He's finally put together a huge, glossy book of all his work, and it is as close to a definitive document of early 00s Norwegian Black Metal as will ever exist. It is also monumental eye candy if you're into things like corpse-paint, torches, swords, winter, and Satan. Tonight Peter's signing copies of the book from 6-8 at Steven Kasher Gallery, which is also exhibiting a bunch of the shots from now to June. Full info below.

Oh and we almost forgot to mention, you can obviously buy the book at amazon.com or wherever when it comes out, but if you go to Peter's site he's got a "deluxe edition" for collectors that comes in a fancy, hand-silkscreened case and includes a signed 8x10 print, which actually makes the $200 price tag not so terrible. Better hurry if you want it though, he's only making 666 copies (How cute is that? Sorry, I mean "devilish").
