SHOCKER! MARTIN MARGIELA MAKES WEIRD CLOTHES

The Maison Martin Margiela capsule collection for H&M lookbook was released today and contained (shockingly) a bucket-load of stuff that looked like it had been pulled through an angry sewing machine three times. As much as I’m not about to go hard on why diagonal one-legged trousers are stupid, because I’ll get Comme fans calling me out on it forever, I can’t wait to see how full the sale racks are of duvet coats and baby blue, elephant-wide, low slung trousers when January rolls around.

Although we all know it will sell out and fester on eBay for the next two to 15 years, because nobody wants it but everybody wants to a make a profit. Stick to insanely expensive stuff next time MM.

PASSARELLA DEATH SQUAD VS BOXFRESH

Passarella Death Squad make amazing baseball jackets that really cool people wear and now they’ve collaborated with Boxfresh on a SS13 capsule collection that's probably going to be both amazing and cool. If you’re not already sold, they both hooked up with NYC photographer and director Timothy Saccenti for an artistic menswear-threesome. This what dreams are made of. Timothy’s minimal sci-fi aesthetic slots perfectly in with the dark, clean lines of the collection, or what I can make out of it from the video.

I’m going to pore over it later and that has nothing to do with the male models, K? The whole thing smacks of pre-order mania and queues round the block.

LACOSTE L!VE X ILL STUDIO

Speaking of collaborations, Lacoste L!VE have hooked up with creative collective Ill Studio to design a collection of three t-shirts. Based on an “intrepid explorer sailing the oceans and exploring the Arctic Circle”, they’re the latest in a pretty impressive list of collaborators that Paris-based designers Ill Studio have worked with. I don’t know if these will stop you getting lost and mauled by a polar bear, but they’ll make you look totally cool while both of those things are happening. And then you’ll freeze to death and your corpse will be preserved forever. So fashion!

SHELLY'S HERITAGE COLLECTION

Shelly's made probably the best shoes the 90s ever saw and, subsequently, clothe the feet of virtually everyone in London who buys their clothes off eBay (myself included), which is not a bad thing at all. Because they're nice like that, Shelly's have decided to create a mini collection of three heritage-inspired shoes for SS13, the best of which has to be this Alicia Silverstone-inspired white PVC platform. All you need now is a sharp-as-fuck tartan skirt suit, some gum and a step-brother to fuck. AS IF.

JAPANESE FASHION IS BETTER THAN ANY FASHION

Obviously Japanese fashion is going to be better than anything anyone else in the world is producing. People there have the balls to walk around in the kind of stuff that would draw bricks and abuse in any other city in the world, so their designers care far less about making stuff wearable and just go all-out insane with pretty much every single collection they come up with.

There's no better example of that than Anrealage's SS13 show, which looked like the wardrobe from the original Tron, had Jean Paul Gaultier been in charge of wardrobe, which is definitely a good thing.
