Watch A Tribe Called Quest's Ambitious, Emotional "The Space Program" Video

What the legendary hip hop group says is their final video is a political sci-fi epic that also pays tribute to the late Phife Dawg.
Screencap

A Tribe Called Quest have been executing their long slow goodbye with statements as powerful as any the group made during their 90s peak. First was their 2017 Grammys performance (and Q-Tip's subsequent blasting of the same awards show) and now we have what might be their most ambitious work connected to their final album We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service, an 8-minute-long video for opener "The Space Program" that's exclusive to Apple Music

Touted as the group's "final" video on their Instagram, the Warren Fu-directed clip is like Tarkovsky taking a lesson in Afrofuturism as ATCQ goes on a space trek in a lavishly designed ship while battled depleting oxygen levels. Q-Tip plays chess with a faceless, ambiguously American politican, and the late Phife Dawg's lines are put into the mouths of Alicia Keys, Common, Questlove, and more in a touching tribute. If this is indeed ATCQ's last journey in the visual realm, they can relax knowing they went out with a bang. Watch "The Space Program" below if you have Apple Music.
