Contradictions Flood Make-Believe Shores in Exeter’s “Scan-Lock”

A match made in psychedelia heaven.

Evan Doyle, aka Exeter, is the creator of the appropriately eclectic music behind an equally as strange video. The Rare Beef signed musician and 2011 Red Bull Music Academy alumnus has remixed and bootlegged artists from Ryan Hemsworth to The Dream and Jai Paul.

Now, it's time for him to release his own music—starting with the Exeter EP. The first track released off the EP, "Scan-Lock," is an audio-visual collaboration with Josh Studham that Exeter says, "Is all about the fear of the unknowable. Lovecraft dreaming about UFOs."

Combining Exeter's music with Studham's videography is a match made in a psychedelic heaven. "The video was made an attempt to open up a kind of impossible space between 2D and 3D—abstract and concrete," Studham tells THUMP.

This production is its own substance.
