Phil Jackson Explains What "Goink" Means, Is Completely Full of Shit

Phil Jackson sat down for a Q&A that covered many topics, including his usage of "goink," which does not match up with Urban Dictionary. Or the rest of humanity, for that matter.

Early in the playoffs, Phil Jackson went on Twitter and semi-trolled basketball "analysts," for want of a better term, with a rhetorical question about three-point shooting. He ended with what was unquestionably a typo, spelling "going" with a "K" instead of a second "G."

NBA analysts give me some diagnostics on how 3pt oriented teams are faring this playoffs…seriously, how's it goink?

Fast forward to today, and the New York Times has a Q&A with Jackson and Knicks general manager Steve Mills that covers a wide array of topics including the draft, the triangle offense, and, yes, "goink." Phil Jackson has looked the basketball world in the face and claimed "goink" was entirely intentional because "'Goink' is a castoff expression, right? Instead of, 'How's it going?,' it's, 'How's it goink?'"

Phil. That is absolutely not a phrase anyone has ever said in his or her life. Why would anyone say that? It is harder to say than both "going" and "goin'." This is such an incredibly weird lie to perpetuate. It's Twitter, no one cares that you were likely using your very large hands on a phone with a tiny-ass keyboard and fudged a word.

Jackson also mentioned that Urban Dictionary readers told him about alternate meanings of his made-up word/typo "goink." One is a racist portmanteau and the other is a sex act. So, what we are going to do here is give you the definitions Jackson relayed, followed by the actual definitions per Urban Dictionary. First, Jackson:

It turned out to be either a combination of a mixed ethnic group: part Korean, part Chinese. Or it's a vernacular term for how do you deal with a sexual partner.

OK, and now, the top definition of Goink at Urban Dictionary:

A person that's half Korean and half Chinese. The term comes from Gook (a derogatory term for Koreans) and Chink (a derogatory term for Chinese or Asians in general). It is not meant as an insult as it is actually a nickname. Can also be called "Chook", another, different mashup of "Gook" and "Chink".
"It's okay Goink, I will still be your friend even if you are a filthy half-breed."

And the next most common definition:

To place both your balls in a partners mouth, then repeatedly slap their nose with your tumescent penis in a vigorous manner, preferably whilst waving your other arm in the air.
-Last night I was with a real slut, she let me goink the hell out of her.

Phil Jackson is the president of the New York Knicks, who have the fourth pick in next Thursday's NBA Draft.
