We're coming up on the last night of Bent Festival, New York City's annual assembly of circuitbenders and other musical DIY hackery, and so far there's been little time to describe the wonderfully weird sounds and imagery we've been experiencing. Thursday night opened with a man in a mechanical owl suit grooving to the sounds of solenoid-actuated percussion, followed by a musical dodecahedron and an electronic seance. And It's only gotten stranger from there. (that's a good thing)

While we didn't arrive in time to catch circuitbending luminary Nic Collins, we did manage to capture a good deal of the Friday night performances. Modular synth mastermind Pete Edwards and electronic autopsy ensemble Burnkit2600 were definite show-stealers, despite pervasive audio issues during the latter set. We were also treated to some great installations from Bent veteran Galen Richmond (Computer at Sea) and New York chip music pioneer Jeff Donaldson (noteNdo) in the gallery's basement.Naturally, we've taken the liberty of capturing all this and more below in a series of animated GIFs. If you're in town, don't miss tonight's grand finale at 319 Scholes, featuring performances from Dr. Rek, Computer at Sea and NYC locals Loud Objects.Connections: Motherboard TV: The Father of Circuit Bending, Reed Ghazala What Does This Mean: A Motherboard Mixtape for The Turn of the Year The Bent Motherboard The Chiptune Motherboard
