Forget About The Snow And Ice With This Colorful Repurposed Gas Station

If you're like us, you could probably use a break from staring at the ice and snow of the US's massive polar vortex. Cue Irish graffiti artist Maser's colorful new installation as part of the The Draw Out - Urban Exhibitionists project in Limerick, Ireland:

Inspired by the work of American pop artist Ed Ruscha, No.27 - A Node To Ed Ruscha was commissioned by the City Council to spruce up an abandoned gas station/local eye sore.

"I converted a derelict petrol station in Limerick city into an interactive installation, as part of a an urban art project." explains Maser. "My work often boldly juxtaposes old and new, past and present in the architectural elements, the visual grammar and choice of pallet. I hope to create work that surprises people and questions their relationship with the familiar and the norm and also how dissociated we are from the space around us."

This new installation is just one of many new projects Limerick has been working on (including murals in castles), and part of an ongoing attempt to bring art and color to the city.

This isn't the first time the artist has added vibrancy to sparse surroundings:

Just try and pretend that didn't make you feel a little cheerier…
