Adriatique Played This Secret DJ Set For Cityfox's Build Crew Last Night

We've got the scoop on Cityfox's big rave this Saturday.

Building a rave is tough work. You've got to juggle crews of grunting, sweaty men lugging around expensive equipment, not to mention the logistical headache of, you know, building a pop-up night time festival in a bare-bones warehouse space. This behind-the-scenes gruntwork is kind of a drag—unless you're Cityfox. Last night, the boutique rave specialists carted in Adriatique to play a secret set for their build crew as they prepared for a big showcase on this weekend. Research shows that workers have 100% more fun installing light fixtures when they're grooving to tech-house.

Cityfox's party goes down this Saturday in collaboration with the German label Diynamic. Label head Solomun will dominate the peak-time crowd, followed by sets from Adriatique, David August, Stimming, H.O.S.H, and Magdalena.

In just two years, Cityfox has established itself as one of the most buzzed-about party-throwers in New York City. Every other promoter these days boasts of their bone-shattering soundsystems and fancy lighting equipment. Cityfox has all of that too. (Their 24-point KV Audio 3D surround sound system is top-of-the-line stuff.) But what separates them from the rest of the rave pack is their ability to transform industrial spaces into high-tech playgrounds. Saturday's party will be no different, with including a main room decked out to look like a winding labyrinth that's fittingly called The Maze.

"There won't be projection mapping this time," says Simar Singh of Listed Productions and Cityfox. "It's all very light-based, with pillars that will glow in different colors, and artificiate walls of light that shift to the music." The second, more intimate side room will be covered in sound-enhancing panels, and a third stage will host local DJs from the New York City area.

All of these glorious rave environs require a lot of grunt work in the days leading up to the main event, which is why Adriatique brought in their decks to play a private show for Cityfox's build crew. Lucky for you, we snagged the mix along with some behind-the-scenes photos. (Keep in mind that the warehouse space is far from finished—everything from the carpeting to the bars are yet to be installed.)
