Imagine if some super-advanced post-cornball civilization was sifting through the wreckage of America’s malls trying to figure out primitive “holidays” at the dawn of the next ice age, splicing and looping among swirls of snow and food court ghosts. That civilization might come up with something like Black to Comm’s plunderphonic take on “Silent Night,” “Stille Nacht.”
In other words, we all naturally hate Christmas music, but let’s pretend for a minute that we don’t have to. And a new Black to Comm anything is worth paying attention to. This is out in 8-inch record form (yes, 8 inches), so, hey, makes a great gift.
