Andy Carroll gave West Ham a 2-1 lead over Chelsea who were playing down a man, and a manager. More on that in a bit. Carroll hit a nice header in the 79th minute after the Hammers had been pressing in front of the Chelsea goal. A poor clearance attempt from John Terry gave the ball right back to West Ham and Aaron Cresswell eventually hit a rainbow of a cross to the nearside of the goal where Carroll out-jumped César Azpilicueta for the score.

West Ham hung on to the lead after four minutes of stoppage time and now all we can do is wait for the inevitable Jose Mourinho freakout over the refereeing. Chelsea had been playing a man down since the end of the first half when Nemanja Matic was sent off for his second yellow card after twice, ever-so-slightly, tugging on a running man’s jersey. Both Terry and Cesc Fabregas were also shown yellows for arguing the call, and Chelsea were unravelling.

But how unspun did they get? Well, at the half, Mourinho attempted to get into the referee’s room and was ejected. He apparently got into a “confrontation” with the refs, though further details are unclear at this point.

It looks like he had fun up there, at least.
