Arkansas wide receiver Dominique Reed was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field after a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit from Kansas State DB Sean Newlan. Reed was sprinting through the middle of the field on what would be a 16-yard completion and as he was being tackled from behind, he tried to lower his shoulders for the hit with Newlan and their helmets collided. He immediately crumpled to the ground and hit his head again. He remained on the field for several minutes as trainers and medical staff attended to him as the crowd watched on in total silence.

ESPN sideline reporter Dawn Davenport said Bret Bielema told his team that Reed was conscious and that she was able to see fingers on both of his hands moving. Davenport later reported that Reed was talking and smiling on the stretcher and it’s being called a neck injury.
