LONDON - HOMERTON STRANGLER ON HAUNTED MENTAL REBOLLEDO

It might take a few listens that will inevitably involve psychologically bracing yourself from going insane to fully realize the genius of Rebolledo's "Pitaya Frenesí," but once you do you'll be a stronger, smarter person and you'll thank me.

This track features vocals by the always brilliant Matias Aguayo and bizarre yet brilliantly balanced production by shadowy Mexican newcomer Mauricio Rebolledo who is soon to release this record on the Chilean Cómeme label. It's pointless to throw Aguayo in with the Kompakt masses—he's really off on his own oddball tangent. Here a nagging haunted house melody plays over an unrelenting muffled bassline and tin-can snares while a pitched-down Phuture-like Aguayo mumbles on about… about…I don't know what. The video, which has just surfaced, features the maestro bowling down the seaside, melted ice cream streaming down his face and arms. It's a pretty solid look. Too bad it's been taken down.

Also try to check out "Encuerado" which is just as good. The ghost sounds seem to be a recurring theme. It nods along going absolutely nowhere but is all the better for it.
