Who are you people out there, talking about face saves? Are you nuts? A face save implies intention, and who intentionally gets a ball kicked in their face? Well, now, I guess you could argue that it’s Red Bull keeper Bill Hamid—that’s who.

The stakes are high for the Red Bulls in their MLS conference semi-final against DC United, and so you’ve got to pull out all of the stops. A classic move by Hamid, though, to force Mike Grella to commit, leaving him no option but to shoot. Hands out, and the ball had nowhere else to go. (Well, except for that gaping 5-hole.)
But let’s call a kick in the head a kick in the head, and say that it was a god damn kick in the head. Face save. Psh!
