Many years ago, all the way back in the year 2009 (*obligatory uhhhhh time is passing so quickly and I am so very old comment*), a very famous actress named Scarlett Johansson and an indie musician called Pete Yorn put out an album of 9 indie pop songs, which was called Break Up. It's a very pretty record that worked in its context – it came out amid the wave of chill guitar pop that happened in the late 2000s and early 2010s, characterised by American bands like Vampire Weekend and Best Coast – and which still stands up now. And now, almost ten years later, Yorn and Johansson have joined forces again for a new track "Bad Dreams," which in turn comes from a new EP, Apart, due out 1 June.

"Bad Dreams" is more bombastic than the material on Break Up, with a clearer pop inflection. There's also more than a little Fleetwood Mac influence in there (like… in a lot of ways this is just "Go Your Own Way",) but it retains the spirit of their collaboration – they sound great together as always, and the way they trade lines is one of my favourite things about their project, and duets in general. Listen below and then give Break Up a spin, for old time's sake.
