Trevor Bauer Pulled from Game 3 of ALCS after His Nasty Looking Finger Started Dripping Blood

Bauer tried to pitch like that. He didn't make it out of the first inning.

Trevor Bauer's version of the bloody sock game didn't even last a full inning.

The Cleveland Indians right-hander was taken out of Game 3 of the ALCS with two outs in the first after his stitched up finger started dripping blood. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons came out to talk to home plate umpire Brian Gorman after Bauer walked Troy Tulowitzki to put two on.

A mound visit ensued, and after a lengthy delay, in which Cleveland's training staff tended to Bauer's finger, the Indians starter left the game to a loud applause from the Rogers Centre crowd. Bauer looked rattled and appeared to be trying to cover up how much blood was leaking from his finger, but there was no way he was staying in the game.

Bauer removed tonight under foreign-substance rule, but MLB discussed this situation ahead of time; he won't face discipline. Common sense.

Cleveland, already without starters Danny Salazar and Carlos Carrasco, turned to Dan Otero plus five other relievers and won 4-2 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Here's another shot of Bauer, who attempted to pitch with his finger like this.

This is what it looked like before he took the mound.

And Indians manager Terry Francona thought the cut wasn't going to be a big deal and affect Bauer. Right.

Bauer had to get his Game 2 start pushed back after slicing open his finger while playing with one of his drones. He needed 10 stitches to close the wound, but apparently chucking 95-mph heaters is a good way to aggravate the injury.

The lesson: Don't play with drones.
