I'm going to ask you a very serious question. Are you feeling funky? I don't mean like Chromeo funky. Heck, I don't even mean Junior Senior funky. I mean yakked out James Brown scatting his way through a performance at Chaka Khan's quinceañera funky. Okay, maybe that's a little too far.Hot shit Norwegian duo Lemaitre are following up their trio of Relativity releases with the impeccable 4-track Singularity. For those not keeping score, the titles are lifted from theories of Georges Lemaître, the pioneering French cosmologist from whom the band got their name.Singularity is Lemaitre's first release on seminal electronica label Astralwerks. The tracks range from Phoenix-y pop to Daft Punk-y electro and back again. The whole EP is an effortless listen - it'll have you playing the air keytar, which is basically as cool as playing the real thing. The clever ideas, musicianship, and wicked pop sensibilities of the release suggest that Thomas Mars and his posse of funky frenchies in Phoenix should be looking over their shoulder a little more often, because they've got some legit competition now.Pre-order it here
