Emicida To Contribute Music For Max Payne 3

Rockstar announces the Brazilian rapper’s involvement in their highly anticipated game.

Emicida, our favorite Brazilian rapper, is diversifying his already glowing track record with a break into the video game world. Rockstar Games has just announced that, alongside a score from LA’s HEALTH, Emicida will be contributing music for the soundtrack of their upcoming sequel in the Max Payne series, Max Payne 3.

The game’s gritty action is set in Emicida’s hometown of São Paulo, making him the perfect Brazilian artist to help create its aural backdrop. The rapper recently told Rockstar how excited he is to be on the project:

"It was like a dream, working with such heavy, dark storylines staged in the city of São Paulo, my beloved São Paulo. That's what I wanted to hold on to—the characters' bad vibes and the chaotic cityscape in Latin America's biggest city, with its contrasts and scenarios, the tension, the violence, and the corruption, especially at such a critical moment in São Paulo's history, where we're witnessing a wave of political attacks against the poorest population."

Emicida, a professed GTA fan, wrote a track for the game which was produced by Brazilian beat makers Nave Beatz and Casp. The game's score will feature four more of his songs as well, but you’ll have to wait until it comes out to find out exactly which ones. Max Payne 3 is slated for release on May 18th.

This week, Emicida released a new track called Dedo na Ferida (loosely translated as "Touching a Sore Spot"), with a particulalry harsh criticism of São Paulo’s government.
