Steve Jobs And Bill Gates Battle It Out

In an alternate 8-bit universe far, far away, Jobs and Gates have a rock-off.

The epic tale of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates has been told many a time, but never quite like this. American Software is a short film by Gianluca Fallone that was “inspired by the towering giants behind the American software industry. That is, if Steve Jobs was a rebellious punk rectangle, with guitar in tow, taking on King Bill through a rock-off within some parallel counter-realist 8-bit geometric vision of our world.”

While the references to Jobs and Gates are only nominal as there isn’t really much of a story line to speak of, and we’re still really not sure what that Pokeball has to do with anything, we’re willing to let these shortcomings slide because the film itself is fun, well-crafted, and set to a soundtrack of Ratatat. Plus, it’s designed as an abstract, 8-bit video game, which tends to just make everything a tiny bit more awesome.
