Sixers-Timberwolves Game Restarted For Incompetence

The winless Sixers and the four-win Timberwolves can't even figure out what baskets they should be shooting on.

Two of the NBA's worst teams had to restart a game because they were shooting on the wrong baskets. The winless Sixers and the four-win Timberwolves are playing tonight and after tipoff, the Sixers won the ball and got going on offense. Only problem was, they went the wrong way. Working deliberately, the Sixers moved the ball around, on the wrong side of the court, and eventually worked the ball in to Henry Sims who put up a shot, on the wrong basket. It was only after Sims was fouled (while shooting on the wrong basket) that referees figured out something was amiss.

The game was simply re-started and the Timberwolves won the tip and were able to figure out the correct basket they should be trying to shoot on. Sixteen seconds elapsed and, now technically, never existed because of the mistake. The score is, as of this writing, 40-36 in the third quarter. Fans may have gotten those 16 seconds back, but they will never get the two-and-a-half hours spent watching this game back.
