The Final Tweet of Hugo Chavez

Here's the final digital musing of the second-most followed world leader on the planet.

Hugo Chavez, the beloved and deplored outspoken socialist strongman, has died. He had been ailing for months, and recently underwent surgery for cancer in Cuba. Chavez had just returned to Venezuela when he was struck by another infection, one that would ultimately prove terminal.

He leaves in his wake not just a complicated legacy, a divided country, and a couple of expelled American diplomats, but one of the largest pantheon of tweets of any world leader. He was, after all, the second most followed leader in the world, behind a certain tech-savvy American social media maestro. Additionally, when clumsily translated from the Spanish by Google, Chavez's propagandist musings make for one of the greatest surrealist Twitter feeds ever. Here is the final, befitting tweet of Hugo Chavez, sent out on February 18th:

Here's the untranslated, embedded version:

Sigo aferrado a Cristo y confiado en mis médicos y enfermeras. Hasta la victoria siempre!! Viviremos y venceremos!!!
