Richmond Freshman Grant Golden Collapses Twice in Basketball Game, Is Carted Off

The frightful scene lasted for about 10 minutes as he was tended to by medical staff right in front of Richmond's bench.

At the Richmond vs. Texas Tech basketball game today, Richmond freshman and forward Grant Golden had a scary moment as he collapsed not once but twice on the court mid-game. The frightful scene lasted for about 10 minutes as he was tended to by medical staff right in front of Richmond's bench.

Golden seemed to have slipped, tripped, or collapsed while running down the sideline, and his attempts to get back up resulted in him collapsing once, and while on his way back to the bench, he collapsed once again and lay face-down for several minutes.

There was something of a long timeout as medical staff were trying to tend to Golden. Richmond's coach was trying to iron out a game plan, but Golden's teammates understandably were looking to him in concern and confusion.

It's not entirely clear what happened to 6'9", 240-pound Winchester, Virginia native, but the Richmond basketball Twitter account is reporting that Golden was alert and responding. He is currently being evaluated in the team locker room. We will keep you updated as the story develops.
