Cuba's Alfredo Despaigne Hits Glorious Championship Series Extra Innings Homer, Gloriously Admires It

Alfredo Despaigne is still watching the home run he hit in Cuba last night.

On Wednesday night, the championship series of Cuba's Serie Nacional between Granma and Ciego de Avila kicked off. Among the players suiting up for Granma in the series is Alfredo Despaigne, the 5-foot, 7-inch, 210-pound slugging outfielder who stars on Cuba's national team.

In Wednesday night's game, Despaigne got rung up in the top of the eighth and was so furious about the call he refused to leave the box and had to be pulled off the field. However, he was not ejected.

In the tenth, Despaigne faced off against the same pitcher, who is known for throwing mostly straight hard fastballs. But in this at bat, the pitcher tried to throw a couple sliders out of the zone. Despaigne did not chase. The pitcher finally relented and gave Despaigne a fastball which he immediately turned all the way around. And Despaigne let everybody know about it.

He walked most of the way to first, did a bat spike, and gave and aggressive "I told you" finger point to everyone in the dugout. Here's the video:
