Brazilian Side Opens Game with Goal Right from Kickoff

The ref blew the whistle, and then No. 10 uncorked a golazo from midfield to start the game.

The one time you let your guard down and say you know what, I'm gonna skip third-tier Brazilian soccer this weekend, someone goes and does something outrageous like this. The team in white, Comercial, got to kick off against Catanduvense in Sao Paulo and No. 10—his name is either Mirrai or Mirray—decided to live his best life and just went for it from midfield.

Once the referee whistled that it was game time, the Comercial striker charged the ball and just laid all the way into it, hitting a rising line drive into the back of the net. He caught just about everyone off guard, including the goaltender who watched, stupefied, as the shot sailed over his head.

Comercial beat Catanduvense 4-1.
