Earlier this year, The Creators Project brought you an exclusive look at artist Marcel Dzama’s sculptures, drawings, and costume designs for the New York City Ballet's Art Series and production of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Most Incredible Thing. Now, this Friday, you can enjoy all of Dzama’s celebrated films, present by Dzama, for free. The Brooklyn Fire Proof Stages, a collection of DIY-loving business, offering a sound stage, equipment rental facilities, a studio, and workspaces, in collaboration with Terra Firma Restaurant, is hosting free outdoor movie screenings on Fridays through July and August in Bushwick. Deeply influenced by Duchamp, Dzama’s work has ranged from playful drawings, to outfits, to short films. He is fond of collaborating with other artists across different mediums, which he says he prefers to working alone. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, Dzama has exhibited internationally and his work is held in collections at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Tate Gallery. This screening presents a unique opportunity to view his short films, perhaps for the first time, entirely at once.
