NEW YORK - NO FUN FEST '06

While most of the folks from our office were basting themselves with beer and camaraderie in the hot Austin sun, those of us stuck in New York put on our heavy coats and slogged our way through 30-mph icewind down to Red Hook for this year's No Fun Fest. For the younger hoodies-beards-and-elitism set, Carlos Griffoni's third annual avant/noise festival was the place to be seen and hammered by wave upon wave of crushing sound. And for proponents of the even-jowly-gray-haired-LES-veterans-can-thrash-around-stage-and-make-their-guitars-go-SKREEEWANGANGANGKRSHHHHHHHH rejoinder to the too-loud, too-old paradigm, it was a prime opportunity to do as such until sweat glistened from every crevasse in their leathery, pockmarked faces.
