Helen Dryden is a painter based in Leeds, who mainly specialises in painting in acrylics on canvas, fine art prints and some drawings on paper. Her work covers eclectic subject matter, from the traditional artist’s subjects such as trees and urban landscapes, to more fantastical work featuring animals and figures. The unifying aspect of all her work is that it is emotionally expressive. Often the imagery used comes from her own daydreams and nightmares and are created using appropriated imagery, and sometimes her own photographs as source material. Dryden’s photography was recently selected to appear in a competition partnered by the Tate Modern, Flickr and Blurb, although painting remains her primary passion. A selection of work can be seen on her website and she also has work represented here.
