Dear Vice,
Grilling is one of those simple little joys of summer that makes you glad you're alive. What could be better than beer and food and friends? Putting the beer in the food and eating it with friends. My stepdad showed me how to make 'booze bird' a couple years ago & now I'd like to share it with you. It's easy, just take one of those little roasters from the super market (I get the ones that just say 'young chicken')…When you get home clean it out, rub it down with a lemon and make some seasoning for the outside. I recommend pepper, crushed or diced onions, a little basil, and maybe some mustard seeds if you're feeling spicy, mixed together in olive oil and rubbed all over the chicken. You can do whatever suits your taste. Leave the chicken in this seasoning for 20 minutes. Then take a longneck beer can (use a decent beer or your chicken might taste like funk), drink half, and jam it right up the chicken's stuffing hole. After that just stick it on the grill, and wait about 45 minutes or until everything looks done. The heat will force the beer out of the can and it'll saturate the chicken's insides with deliciousness. When it's done, the bird will be all juicy from being internally soaked in beer. Plus, it looks really rude and gross. Happy grilling.
