In 2015, Coachella has become a feeding frenzy for tabloids, an inspiration for fashion lines, a carnival for style blogging, a multi-city pool party extravaganza, and a punchline for the country’s jokes about music festivals. But still, beyond all of that, it’s one of the world’s marquee music festivals for a reason, which is that the lineup is fucking sweet. This year, we watched AC/DC prove they’re still awesome, Steely Dan reel in the youth along with the years, Florence + the Machine crush her comeback, and FKA Twigs murder everyone alive. Drake got kissed by Madonna. But that wasn’t all: shoegaze legends Ride reunited, Benjamin Booker shredded, Tyler the Creator set the scene for his new album, and Lil B blessed the masses, as he always does.
