Moones Just Made The Best Music Video Ever

Marshmallows turn into crabs, people burst into flames, and wildcats whip out semi-automatics, set to the sounds of charming Britpop.

When marshmallows start turning into crabs, people start bursting into flames, pig-souls begin escaping roasting hot dogs, and wildcats start whipping out semi-automatic rifles, you kind of know you’ve got a good music video on your hands. With that in mind, we give you “Better Energy,” the new video from the UK power pop quartet Moones.

You may not have heard of them yet, but you're about to be hearing about Moones a whole lot more. The band features Laurent Barnard, founder of the UK punk act Gallows. Moones finds Barnard cranking down the snarl in favor of atmospheric and propulsive power pop, like if Sloan drank a pot of coffee in the synth section of Guitar Center.

The incredible video, directed by Peter Sluszka and produced by Hornet, is mind-blowing to the point where you sort of worry about the people who made it. It features the band shipwrecked and stranded in the arctic ocean, zapped back to life by an electric eel and forced to forage for food on a barren iceberg. You get a fantastic combination of stop-motion, Claymation, and cartoon animation, and it’s pretty much the best thing we’ve seen all morning.

If you’ve got Spotify (and if you don’t, you’re running out of excuses by now) you can stream the track below.
