It's the 27th of October, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still, technically, president of FIFA.

We had some cup competitions last night. A quick rundown of the results. In the Capital One Cup, Everton-Norwich, Hull-Leicster City, and Stoke-Chelsea all went to penalties after drawing 1-1. In each case, the team listed first won on penalties. Not to be outdone, Arsenal lost to Sheffield Wednesday 3-0. There were a few upsets in the German Cup: 1860 Munich beat Mainz; Aue beat Eintracht Frankfurt, Unterhaching beat Red Bull Leipzig. In the marquee match, Bayern beat Wolfsburg 3-1.

Poor Jose Mourinho can't seem to catch a break. Chelsea lost again last night. To make matters worse, striker Diego Costa was taken to the hospital with a rib injury.

The U.S. women's gymnastics team won the World Title in Scotland. It's the team's 3rd win in a row.

If you've been paying attention to European politics, you know there's a chance Catalonia could break away from Spain in the coming months. What would that mean for La Liga? French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has said that, should Catalonia secede, Barcelona is welcome to play in France's Ligue 1.

Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have been in the news for allowing a group of homeless squatters to stay in their luxury hotel, which is under renovation, through the winter. The Guardian went on a tour of the hotel.

Readers of this column will already be aware of the racist incidents plaguing Dynamo Kiev lately. Dynamo has proposed a solution: segregating black and white fans. Unsurprisingly, the proposal hasn't been received very well.

The I.O.C. has suspended Kuwait for political interference.
