The Loneliness (and Crushing Post Rock) of Long Distance Runner

Listen to a track from the Auckland band's upcoming record and then go throw something on the floor.

Simon Oswald and Jono Glenday play in Auckland's Parents, a band indebted to 90s US post hardcore acts such as Orchid and Mohinder. But as Parents have become less active, the two needed an outlet for creating loud and cathartic music. Long Distance Runner is that outlet.

The band, who shares members with other Auckland band's Sere and How Get, create dense and melodic punk that taps into modern day malaise and frustration.

Their new 7", produced and released by the band, will be available as part of a North Island tour that includes an appearance at Hamilton's Hamtown Smackdown where they will play alongside Wizz Kids, Bridge Burner, and Love Mess play.

Take a listen to the song and then go throw something at the floor.
