NORTHMIX: Cosella

Listen to this house hybrid mix from one of Toronto’s own.

Tumbling down the rabbit hole and into the depths of the Canadian underground music scene, you'll likely find Cosella. Despite the fact that he hails from a small town, Cosella has an uncanny ability to fuse the sounds of deep, tech and G house that are known to run through the veins of leading artists in Ibiza. Punchy, ascending tempos and the bottomless reductive vocal cuts take you through a musical experience you always hope to encounter at your neighbourhood nightclub, but rarely do. Cosella, or Andreas Rizek, has pledged to keep your feet moving by constantly nourishing you with new sounds rather than popular ones. THUMP likey.

"Something that I stand by is playing something people haven't heard before," says the young producer. "I want to get people moving rather than flooding them with the same stuff they hear at the club across the street."

So cancel your plans this weekend. We promise that this installment of Northmix with Cosella will sound undeniably better than any Facebook event you've RSVPed to.

Cosella just played a sold-out show in Toronto with Tchami, Hunter Siegel and Rainer + Grimm. But there is still much to come from him in 2015, with a handful of tracks and an upcoming EP release on Sleazy G.
