Liz Harris, aka Grouper, hasn't released any new material since 2014's excellent LP Ruins, but now the experimental electronic artist has strongly hinted that the wait for something new may soon be over.
At a performance this evening at the Museum of Modern Art's PS1 Contemporary Art Institute, Harris debuted a set billed as "entirely new music." The 45-minute long performance was accompanied by a 16mm projection visuals from filmmaker Paul Clipson.
Harris's set was followed by a performance from the legendary drone artist William Basinski, who performed the recent work "Cascade/The Deluge" and encored with "Dlp 1.1" from The Disintegration Loops.
The set was recorded by Boiler Room TV who stated in a tweet "[This performance was] years in the making. We don't often get to see it."
