Julian Casablancas Embraces New Wave on Exhibition’s New Track “No One There”

The Strokes frontman is releasing Hammarsing Kharhmar’s new EP, 'Last Dance,' on his Cult Records imprint.

Julian Casablancas is very selective with his collaborations. Outside of his frontman duties with The Strokes and The Voidz, he's only collaborated with other artists twice: "Instant Crush" with Daft Punk, which inevitably became a huge hit, and "Boombox" with The Lonely Island, a track which is funny enough to deserve a second listen seven years later. (""WHOAHOAH / Everyone was wearing fingerless gloves," for example).

This morning, he's added to that brief list, collaborating with Indian-born artist Hammarsing Kharhmar on his new track "No One There." Released under Kharhmar's new moniker, Exhibition, it opens with blocks of tense new wave and staccato drums before giving way to Casablancas's trademark oozing, drunkenly forlorn chorus. It's taken from Exhibition's debut EP, Last Dance, out on Casablancas's own Cult Records imprint on April 14.
