Toronto rap psychonaut DillanPonders is gearing up to release his latest excursion Acid Reign on December 28th. While the pile-driving single “Go Daddy Go” already has a clip, Ponders has unleashed another track, and it’s a squad theme song called, of course, “MANDEM.” [Full disclosure: Jake Kivanç, of production company TEN and the video’s co-director, is a staff writer for Vice Canada] The video finds Ponders with his titular friends, destroying boomboxes and TV sets with pickaxes. “Say you’re from Toronto but there’s nothing wrong with Brampton,” Ponders raps, emphasizing that the GTA is the GTA and no one should be ashamed to come from any one part of it.
“I just hope my listeners feel the way I do when they hear it,” said Ponders to Noisey on the song and album. “Happy, confused, angry, excited…most of all I just want them to feel.” Watch the “MANDEM” video below.
