After eight years fighting extradition, radical Islamist cleric Abu Hamza was deported to the US, where he faces 11 charges relating to hostage taking, conspiring to start a militant training camp and calling for a holy war in Afghanistan.

The cleric and two other deported terrorism suspects appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Saturday, Hamza without his hook and prosthetic hand, both of which had been confiscated.

DAVID CAMERON REJECTS MANSION TAX
But confirms more welfare cuts, so that's good

The UK Prime Minister has rubbished plans made by deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, for a so-called "mansion tax" on expensive properties,  suggesting it would be unfair.

Cameron did, however, claim that the rich would "pay their fair share".

Ahead of the Conservative party conference, the Prime Minster confirmed there will be more cuts to welfare, but would not reveal; exactly where those cuts would be made.

Gabby Scanlan, an 18-year-old woman from Lancashire, drank a cocktail that contained a small amount of liquid nitrogen, complained of stomach pains and eventually had to have her stomach removed.

She is said to be seriously ill, but in a stable condition in hospital.

Police have not yet named the bar where the cocktail was sold, but have confirmed that it will no longer be selling any drinks that use the cooling chemical, a signature of molecular gastronomist, Heston Blumenthal.

Tickets for the Glastonbury music festival went on sale at 9AM, Sunday morning, and all 140,000 tickets had sold out by 10:40, setting a new record time of an hour and 40 minutes.

Those who managed to secure a ticket took to Twitter and Facebook to gloat, those who didn't took to Twitter and Facebook to lament the website, which kept crashing, and the phone lines, which were constantly blocked.

More tickets will be available in April.

SOMEONE DEFACED A ROTHKO ARTWORK
A man tagged an expensive painting with a marker pen

Witnesses at the Tate Modern saw a man sitting in front of a multimillion-pound painting by Russian artist, Mark Rothko, before calmly approaching it and scrawling something in the corner with a black pen.

The museum closed temporarily, before reopening and confirming that someone had indeed vandalised the painting.

As of yet, no one knows who the vandal is – although one of words appears to say "Vladimir" – or why he did it, but one art lover remarked "I am a naturally peaceful person, but I wouldn't be that upset if 'Vladimir' accidentally met with a baseball bat."
