Jason Kenney Backs The Donald in Supporting UK’s ‘Brexit’

Don't count the Jason out of federal politics just yet.

While everyone has been assuming that nearly household-name Conservative MP Jason Kenney has been planning a 'Westit' to save Alberta from the lefties, it appears he still has time to stir shit up in federal politics.

Emulating Donald Trump, Kenney celebrated the UK's vote to tank its economy and leave the European Union.

"Congratulations to the British people on choosing hope over fear by embracing a confident, sovereign future, open to the world!" wrote Kenney on Twitter last night, seemingly unbothered that the "hope" he is referring to was largely fuelled by the anti-immigrant vote. (Aside: kinda weird that Kenney, who led the Conservatives' efforts to win over immigrants, is taking this approach, no? Anyhoo.)

Kenney also blasted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who, like US President Barack Obama, was strictly in the "remain" camp.

"Trudeau was wrong to interfere in the British people's internal democratic decision on EU membership. A terrible, short-sighted gaffe," Kenney said.

Meanwhile, Trudeau did what democratic leaders do in times of chaos and told Canadians everything is going to be OK even though it probably isn't.

"We are well-positioned to weather global market uncertainty as we have done in the past," the prime minister said Friday morning, which is certainly a nicer thing to say than, "Oh god, I don't know what is going to happen, this could be a giant fucking disaster but my hair is going to look extra-dope next to Prime Minister Boris Johnson."
