Last week, retired Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling tweeted about his daughter, Gabby, who had been chosen to be on the Salve Regina University softball team next year. Schilling's tweet was sweet but nothing special—just a quick shout of congratulations that seemed destined to quickly slip away into the Twitter stream. Unfortunately, Curt took to his blog last Sunday to post a series of heinous and sexually gross responses he received about his teenage daughter.

There's no real explanation for why Curt's cheerfully bland tweet about his daughter getting on college softball team incited a slew of graphic and rape-y responses, but Curt didn't let it fly. He called the Twitter users out with screencaps of their tweets and profiles, and finished the post off with an apology to Gabby because she is "likely embarrassed" but that there's "no situation in [her] life when it is OK for a man to talk about [her]… this way."

Yesterday, New Jersey Advance Media reported that two men responsible for the tweets had been fired—one of whom was a part-time ticket seller for the Yankees. People can see what you say on the internet, guys.
