NEW YORK - FURTHER REDUCTIONS

How romantic and terrifying would it be to be in a band with just your special someone? Just the two of you alone in some hallucinatory sex-dream audio version of a plastic hamster ball, bumping into walls and rolling down the stairs, having no clue whether or not you're headed in the right direction or any direction at all. Led er Est's Shawn O'Sullivan and Katie Rose are in such a bubble, called Further Reductions, and it's not annoying or embarrassing to watch. Actually, it's better than anyone else's we can think of, and they're playing tonight at Glasslands with a bunch of other people you'd want to see. Click below for details and to hear a track Shawn and Katie recorded a couple nights ago.

Here's what Shawn has to say about "Familiar Flights":

"I'm not sure what the deal with the track is. it's sort of Nine Circles inspired, I suppose. If you don't know them, they're a great Dutch band that did these sort of spooky, mid/downtempo super minimal tracks, but very bass heavy and rhythmic, female vox, great atmosphere. Katie came up with that haunting quasi-rap, which makes it feel more American or smething, more NY early 80s, like an August Darnell production. We're pretty happy with the track, but I did a crappy job eq-ing and mixing."

Now listen to it here:

Aren't they fucking cute?

They play tonight with S.S.Pyramid Snake, Terrible Eagle, Nathan Antolik, and DJs PorkchopSS and pinkSWORD, and you get to see that Psychic Ills video we showed you on a big screen.
