Enzo Siragusa’s Inspirational Jungle Jams

This has been so hard to do, I have so many jungle records and cherish them all. I’ve focussed on ’94 to ’95 which were my early raving years. I only have about 100 records in my studio so I looked through them. I have around 1000 hardcore and jungle records I collected between 92-96 at my parents house. There are so many records I’ve missed from artists like, Peshay, Nookie, Dillinja or Photek and labels like V Recordings or Formation to name a few. Here goes!

Omni Trio -Renegade Snares (Foul Play VIP Mix) (Moving Shadow)

Both the original and the Foul Play remix in ’93 were already special! However this was a touch of class when it dropped in ’95 and for me bettered its predecessors. Which wasn’t easily done!

Engineers Without Fears – Spiritual Aura (Dee Jay Recordings)

One of the first tunes I heard when walking into Dreamscape in ’94 at The Sanctuary in Milton Keynes.

DJ Peshay – Represent (Metalheadz)

Deep soulful D&B. I was really into the deeper and more ‘intelligent’ side of drum & bass. I remember Fabio opening his set with this at Helter Skelter in ’94.

Boogie Times Tribe – Dark Stranger (Origin Unknown Remix) (Suburban Bass)

Proper jungle!

Andy C – Cool Down (RAM Records)

I loved pretty much everything on this label. I get a lot of inspiration for my music here. Switching up dubby and then heavy beats. Get your head down and rave!

Return of the Q-Project – Champion Sound (Legend Records)

Pure rawness…this is jungle! I heard this rewound many a time in the dance.

Slipmatt – Breaking Free (Awesome Records)

This for me was the cross over between hardcore and jungle in 94, music getting darker and I was getting into the deeper side of the sound. But this was one to get your hands in the air to.

Ray Keith – Terrorist (Moving Shadow)

The source of the Kilimanjaro sound. That bass line!

LTJ Bukem – Music (Good Looking Records)

Words can not describe the emotions when I hear this track — this one is from a deep place. Close your eyes, listen and feel…music to rush to. I could easily list every single track on this label. I was a tough call between this and Bukem & Peshay’s “19.5”.

Cool Hand Flex – Melody Madness (In Touch Records)

Jungle at its finest, blending beats, bass a lots of sampling. Some soul a funk right here in this record.

Enzo Siragusa & Alex Kid’s Evolutions EP is out on Fuse London on vinyl now. Enzo plays the Fuse 7th birthday party at Village Underground on November 29th. Head here for more information.
