Attorney General Jeff Sessions will once again have to answer pointed questions about his dealings with the Russians when he testifies before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.

Court documents unsealed in early November have called into question Sessions’ previous testimony, in which he said multiple times that he didn’t communicate with Russians or know of any campaign members who did. Just weeks ago, however, one of Donald Trump’s campaign aides, who served on a foreign policy advisory team Sessions chaired, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about meeting with a Russian national during the campaign.

“These facts appear to contradict your sworn testimony on several occasions,” Democrats from the committee said in a letter to Sessions last week.

Ahead of the hearing, Sessions also indicated he might be willing to appoint a special counsel to probe allegations surrounding Hillary Clinton and the Democrats’ activities during the campaign, which further complicates an already tangled situation.
