GO OUTSIDE TONIGHT

In addition to the clusterfuck of industry parties and concerts on the CMJ roster tonight, there is a very worthy art opening happening. I don't know about you, but I'd rather treat my eyes to a visual feast than get rubbed up against by a crowd of acne-ridden NYU students while watching some band sponsored by Six Flags called Wobblesauce. (Not to discount the awesomeness of roller coasters or anything, but I don't want the company who brought us this to sponsor any type of supposed "cultural exchange.") So if you savor your sanity, check this out.

Regina Rex in Ridgewood is hosting Go Outside by Megan Pflug. It's a tribute to her imagination of last summer in her garden, and a perfect excuse to dodge the CMJ melee and escape to an organic good-vibes past. The show is filled with references to all sorts of things we like: feral kittens, plants, candles, dancing, and icons. She uses found images from 60s magazines and does large-scale Xerox transfers with a strong geometric sensibility. In non-art-speak, it's easy on the eyes and makes you feel nice inside. If you go to the opening tonight you'll witness a dance performance.
