NEW YORK - THE GREATER NEW YORK SMUDGE CLEANSE

O Bountiful mother earth! How the soft green grass doth crumple beneath our leaden cleats; how the sky we’ve grayed strangles us with refractions from our own polluted minds! Let us ceremoniously bathe together in the sacred smoke from the world’s most giantest smudge sticks and rid you of vibe damage. Last weekend took care of Greenpoint, site of ExxonMobil’s 17- to 30-million-gallon oil spill; tomorrow afternoon we’ll hit Brooklyn's horrendously polluted Gowanus Canal and then celebrate with glorious canoe rides. Art goddess Jeanine Oleson leads these rites (and others forthcoming) in a dazzling dashiki, as part of the Greater New York Smudge Cleanse.
