All right, we've given you ideas for shit to do in California, but if you're in New York this weekend and you don't feel like hitting up a crafts fair (though, really, there's some good musics happening there too, and it's free), you'd be a big dumb to just sit at home getting stoned to YouTube, not going to the Eye and Ear Festival today and/or tomorrow. It claims to be the first-ever NYC fest featuring only local bands (anyone care to challenge that?), and stuff you want to hear too, not the dregs of shit-rock, the strains of which assault you strolling through the East Village any given weekend. Want us to prove it? OK, here: Sightings, Skeletons, Xeno & Oaklander, Metalux, Excepter, Cult of Youth, Led er Est, Necking. How's that work for you? And it's only $15 for two days. It's not going to be that much different from the craft fair, actually--there'll be tables and tables of people selling stuff--but it'll all be sound-hole related except for the food. Though you can stuff a smoked ham and cheese sandwich in your ear if you want, we won't stop you.
