Dude Goes on $700 Rampage Over Bag of M&M's

Hell hath no fury like an M&M-lover scorned.

Some dude, probably Nicholas Sparks or maybe that guy Shakespeare, once said that love can make a man do crazy things. Turns out, that's even more so the case if the target of your lust happens to be a dust-covered bag of half-melted M&M's that's been sitting on a convenience store shelf for the better part of a decade.

Earlier this week, police in Santa Ana, California released surveillance footage of a man who decided the only reasonable course of action after having his credit card declined while purchasing a single bag of M&Ms was to assault the clerk who broke the news to him and to trash the 7-Eleven.

As one is wont to do.

Video of the incident, which occurred back in February, was released by investigators last week to help them find and apprehend the perpetrator. The video shows the man in question hitting a 7-Eleven employee on the head, before shoving a cash register and printer off the counter and then grabbing a bunch of bananas and throwing them at another clerk. In a news release, the Santa Ana Police Department said the suspect caused $700 of damage to the store's registers and printers.

Despite the entirety of the incident being caught on surveillance, the M&M-loving man has yet to be identified and is currently wanted for both damage of property and battery.

Incidents of road rage are reported to be increasing nationwide, so we probably shouldn't be surprised at this absurd and violent act of chocolate rage. Let's just hope it's not the start of a trend.
